So often, art and creativity are all about the end result and rarely is the focus on the experience of creating. We are sold the myth that to participate in art, we must therefore be a professional artist - but the truth is that the act of creating is actually a biological requirement of human beings. We are born creative. Carl Jung believed that creativity was the primary language of our psyches, even prior to conceptual thought. Jung also believed that looking at these images in a symbolic way could unlock truths of our unlived lives, leading us towards living fuller, more authentic lives. I think Jung was onto something.

When we venture deep into the magic of our creative selves, the journey can be at times unravelling, sometimes surprising, rarely predictable and always fascinating. It is when we we find ourselves truly at one with the divine. When our creative spirit comes out to play, it can unlock ideas and revelations that may have laid inside our psyches like a dormant volcano. Through the ethereal process of creative expression there are messages ready to be relayed. Stories waiting to be told. Our stories.

Art therapy is a powerful practice in which a specific art technique is used to access the unconscious. It's a way to self-express within a safe and honoured environment. The reason art therapy is so incredibly beneficial is because it is for all of us - regardless of age, intellect, culture, class and ability, reminding us that art is the universal mother tongue in which we all speak.

1:1

Using art therapy techniques that are tailored to your personal needs, most 1:1 sessions are held in the green lush hills of Main Arm, NSW. Deep nature provides the backdrop for a dynamic session and wherever possible, sessions are held outside. For appointments requiring an inside environment, I provide a spacious, comfortable zone within the house. An array of art supplies + resources are all provided.

Prior to our first session, clients complete a general history form which charts personal details relevant to our consultation and which also assists in determining the most effective art therapy techniques for your treatment. 

The session begins with a verbal consultation followed by appointment of a specific art therapy exercise that is tailored specifically to you. Before you commence your activity I will guide you into deep relaxation using drum beats, allowing you to completely relax. From here, you can then dive straight into your art therapy exercise in complete privacy. The session is concluded with a recap and summary over tea.

workshops

Regular workshops are also held on the property. Groups are kept to limited numbers to ensure the space is kept intimate. Art therapy techniques and workshop design are specifically determined by the theme. The modalities are fun and nourishing but they do run deep. Through the mediums of creative art therapy, dialogue, archetypal exploration, story + much more, participants experience deep introspection + insights that allow them to shed what is unnecessary and give water, sunshine + air to that which sets their soul + heart alight.
