Why participate?
Sharing your story is important for a number of reasons. To begin with, you will be participating in work that helps to alleviate fear + shame, develop relatability and inspire creative expression in those who may be on the precipice of stepping into their creativity.
Most people I have interviewed have commented on how liberating and enjoyable the interview process is for them. The questions are an opportunity to dig deeper - not only around conventional creative process but around our belief systems + fears + resourcefulness. The space is safe and the conversation is very informal. There has been cussing, laughing fits and tears. Everything is welcome.
The CBP is about celebrating creativity in its entirety: looking at creativity without ego, judgement or comparison and recognising + accepting how wonderfully unique our relationships to creativity are.
Some excerpts + photographs from interviews will be included in the book I am currently writing, however if you’d rather contribute anonymously, that is also an option.
How does it work?
We meet in person or via Zoom. I ask you a series of questions. Our conversation is recorded + transcribed at a later date. Then, I capture + curate a portion of your words. They will be sent to you to read over before publication. Once your piece is completed, it is then shared on the CBP platforms (website + social media + articles).
With permission, I (or a photographer) will capture a few photos of you.
In total, allow for up to an hour for the interview.
Nothing will be published online or in print without your approval.
Does it matter if I am an amateur?
Absolutely not.
It doesn’t matter what kind of relationship to your creativity you have, just that you are willing to talk about it, openly + honestly. Participating in the project does require a certain level of vulnerability as we are sharing the less glossy parts of our journey with the world. It is brave work and extremely liberating!
